It’s a common question in the context of a job interview or a first date. Where do you see yourself in five years? It’s a good question, and somehow we all have an answer for this, no matter how realistic it seems. But the question is: what steps are we taking to make that vision our actual reality?

The Questions You Really Need to Ask

Five or ten year plans are great and all, but sometimes you just need to ask yourself: What am I going to do today?

You can make the question even smaller, and more specific: What am I going to do next?

While it is important to have long-term goals and plans, sometimes the daydream of who you could be in the future can distract you from the now. Every single choice you make changes your life in one way or another; sometimes it’s really more important to focus on the here and now and what you can reasonably do to achieve the life you want. Your dream life truly starts the moment you decide to work for it.
