How Does Excessive Screen Time Impact Wellness?
It’s estimated that the average human spends about seven hours looking at a screen each day. The figures for Gen Z are even higher, at an estimated nine hours per day. Screen time — for better and for worse — has its uses in this day and age. Many jobs require screen time. Utilizing screen time is often the best way to catch up with friends and relatives.
Since phones, TVs, computers, and other electronic devices are commonplace, it’s all but impossible to live a normal life without them. It’s inappropriate to demonize screen time in this era. In fact, screen time has many uses that can be genuinely positive for us.
However, it’s easy to get caught up in it. How often do you mean to do a quick Google search, and end up looking at something completely different? And how often do you mean to check Instagram for a few minutes and end up spending eons of time watching reels?
Social media and video sharing can be fun and beneficial, however, it’s so easy to lose track of time. And this is by design.
