With all the productivity advice rampant on the internet, it’s easy to get lost in all of the things you should be doing. Unfortunately, a lot of the productivity advice out there is mere noise.

Everyone is going to have different advice and different perspectives — and that is because people write from their own experience. Some people thrive on schedules, some people work better if they work according to their energy levels. Some people wake up and exercise first thing in the morning before anything else, and some people head to the gym after work to decompress.

There are no right or wrong answers when it comes to productivity.

That being said, I advise you to take this with a grain of salt, take what resonates with you and leave the rest, but these are three common pitfalls that may be hindering your success.

Your Goals Are Too Far Off

A big pitfall that is all too easy to fall into is having a idea of what you want your future to look like. You know what you want, and you know you’re going to get there — someday. However, someday is not today and that’s a good excuse to not start now.
